It’s Hard enough without doing it in a Sea Kayak!

Check out Ben Orkin’s training run at Lava Falls Rapid in his Epic 18X Performance sea kayak. He was practicing for what was a 37 hour, record making run down the Grand Canyon’s 277 miles.

Ben (25) has only kayaked the Grand Canyon seven times before and this training run was 6 days before his speed record attempt.

The Lava Falls Rapid is traditionally known as one of the biggest and daunting and is rated ‘9’ on the Grand Canyon scale.

These rapid can be tough on a kayak and the 18X’s hull material which is a a composite of fiberglass, carbon fiber and Kevlar–is no match for plastic in a challenging whitewater river.
